Wilson set to return in 2010
NEWLY-CROWNED Rider of the Year Ben Wilson has agreed terms to spend a second season with Redcar Bears in 2010.

The former British Under-21 champion was a revelation at South Tees Motorsports Park this year and made it clear he wanted to spent another season on loan to the Bears from parent club Sheffield.

Now team manager and promoter Brian Havelock has revealed he’s thrashed out a deal with Wilson, with just one minor point to be resolved before pen is put to paper.

“Ben will be coming back next year,” said Havelock. “He’s had a fantastic season and I’m very pleased.

“We will have to find a tyre sponsor for home meetings but I’m not envisaging that being too difficult.

“Hopefully someone will come forward shortly and then it’s all sorted.”

Wilson joins Maks Gregoric as the only confirmed name on the Bears 2010 teamsheet although Havelock has been identifying and talking to other transfer targets since the season ended.

“I can see one or two riders being left without a team place because they will price themselves out of the market,” warned Havelock who spearheads the consortium which bought out previous promoter Glyn Taylor last winter.

“Financially, the club was a mess when we took over so we haven’t got a lot of money to throw around.

“We didn’t make a lot of money last season because virtually everything we made we put back in to the club.”
