BEN was presented with the Bruce Forrester Memorial Trophy after being voted the most exciting rider of the night as Redcar Bears beat Sheffield 59-37.
Ben was one of three BEBT/Simpson Racing UK Bears riders who finished just one ride away from a paid maximum as his side clocked their second win of the week over the Tigers.
His only defeat by an opponent came at the hands of Sheffield No 1 Ricky Ashworth - the same rider who denied him a full house at Owlterton last Thursday.
What was even more remarkable, however, was that Ben had been told by specialists he faced up to six weeks on the sidelines with a broken heel after crashing in the live TV match against Edinburgh.
But a lightweight heel meant he didn’t have to miss any matches at all and he continued his outstanding form as Redcar did the double over his parent club.
“My foot hurts when I’m walking about but not when I’m riding my bike,” he said.
“I’m just glad to be back on my bike so soon after the doctors told me it would be six weeks. The doctors don’t know I’m riding again yet!”
The Bruce Forrester Memorial Trophy is presented annually in celebration of the Middlesbrough Speedway legend.
Bruce’s widow Linda travelled up with family members and friends - including former Leicester rider and boss Vic White - and decided the winner of the award.
